Engineered or natural wood: which to choose for each application?

This is the question we hear most from customers. The honest answer: neither is absolutely better — each suits different applications.

Engineered wood (moisture-resistant MDF, MFC) is the sensible choice for kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, TV units, and built-ins. Why: perfectly flat surfaces, no warping with weather, diverse finishes, and prices at 40–60% of natural wood. With quality Melamine or Acrylic coating and good hardware, a 10–15 year lifespan is entirely realistic.

Natural wood (walnut, oak, rosewood) is worth the investment for statement and load-bearing pieces: dining tables, desktops, beds, staircases. Real grain and the feel of solid wood can't be replicated, and a good walnut table can serve generations.

One important note: engineered wood quality depends heavily on board origin and edge-banding technique. Cheap unbranded boards use poor glue and blister easily in humidity. At our workshop, we only use certified An Cuong boards and automatic edge-banding machines — the edges are where careful workmanship shows most clearly.
